Key Stage 3 Educational Visits.
Outdoor Education opportunities, especially those with a residential element, play an important part in promoting the personal and social development of people of all ages and abilities, as well as contributing to their understanding of environmental and developmental education themes.
Sometimes the focus of activities will be on the development of particular skills, at other times on the process by which learning occurs, or by the provision of opportunities for learning through direct experience.
The range of Outdoor Education and the development of diverse activities create a need for instructors and teachers to be flexible in their approach. Teaching and instructional styles have clear emphasis on the needs of the individual and the group.
Year 7 are offered the opportunity to go to Malvern outdoor education centre for a week residential.
Purpose of visit:
Provide an opportunity for pupils to gain independence and life experience through outdoor and adventurous activities.
Also to face a range of challenges that can contribute significantly to their personal development
Enhances, interpersonal skills, including leadership, team work and trust and respect.
Life long learning, Self esteem, confidence,
Pupils take part in a variety of challenging and adventurous activities throughout the week, working both individually, and as a team. Pupils are expected to make their own beds, prepare their own food at lunch and display general organisational skills. The emphasis is on developing independence, confidence and establishing life long skills.
