Governors.
"The governors play a very active role in the life of Parkside Middle School, with statutory  powers to govern the school and to monitor the effectiveness of the head teacher and senior leadership team. This is achieved by working collaboratively with the head teacher, the staff and importantly the pupils to ensure that everyone gets the most out of
their time at the school.

The governing body comprises people with responsibilities within the school and local community with at least one third of the governor places allocated to parents. Additionally we have governors, including myself, whose children have previously been at the school and we have continued our involvement. We're very proud of the children and recognise what they have to offer. Within the past year we've successfully appointed our head teacher and his deputy; on both selection days the pupils played a significant role including interviewing all of the candidates via the school council forum as well as giving school tours.

As a school we recognise that pupils are individuals. We fully support the school's recent initiative on the creative curriculum as well as the wide variety of curricular and extra-curricular activities aimed at broadening the opportunities at Parkside Middle School, whether these are artistic, sporting or promoting the school's position within the community that it serves.

Whilst some of the work of the governing body has to remain confidential, we want to make ourselves as open as possible. There are usually governors at most school events and you're free to contact us either directly or via the school. Do come and talk to us, hopefully you will recognise us from our photographs but if not, please ask a member of staff. We'd be delighted to talk to you."
