Key Stage 2 History.
History is a subject which inspires pupils' curiosity. They can find out about the past in Britain and the wider world. As well as finding out what past societies were like, how they were organised and their beliefs and ideas, pupils can try to identify influences on the present day. They will develop an understanding of chronology and knowledge of significant events and people. Through learning about the diversity of human experience, they can learn about themselves and their role in society.
History is about finding evidence and then weighing up that evidence and pupils making their own judgements about the past based on that evidence. Pupils will learn valuable research, analysis and evaluation skills that will benefit them as they get older.
“How do you know who you are unless you know where you’ve come from? How can you tell what’s going to happen, unless you know what’s happened before? History isn’t just about the past. It’s about who we are – and about what’s next.”
Tony Robinson, actor and television presenter.
