Art, at Parkside, gives the pupils the opportunity to express themselves in a creative and imaginative way. We provide a happy and enjoyable learning environment that inspires them to make the most of their skills and talents. Pupils explore the world around them and communicate their ideas by investigating lines, shapes, colours, patterns, textures and form through a variety of materials and technologies.
In year 7 pupils focus on their own identity and of those around them.
They explore different environments and cultures within their own community and are encouraged to express their inner-most feelings through paint, three dimentional form, drawing and photography.
In year 8 pupils extend their skills and knowledge in art and develop a deeper awareness of figurative art. They are encouraged to improve their technical skills in drawing and express human emotions and feelings in paint. Pupils gain knowledge of surreal art and interpret their ideas metaphorically by manipulating a variety of media. Pupils continue to explore different clay techniques and discover the world of Islamic art.
Pupils learning is supported by organised trips to local art galleries, in-house visits from professional artists and art club after school.
