Our aim is to foster a love of aspects of English. Pupils study a variety of fiction and non-fiction as well as poetry. Pupils write poetry and narrative and non-narrative texts. They experience a range of speaking and listening opportunities including discussion/debate, presentations (either to class/groups or whole school) and drama. Pupils also study film and media techniques and use ICT. We address spelling and grammar as well as sentence and text structure..
Pupils are set by ability in year 7. In year 8, we are currently trialling mixed ability groups.
